During the period of Syedna Ali (R. A), sultans and chiefs of Hamdan and other tribes who were in Dawah, differed and desisted from jihad. So, he had to spend a huge sum of money for jihad and for the protection of the fortresses. During this period, Ashraaf from the descendent of Yahya ibn Hasan ibn Hamzah dominated over Sana'a., and Banu Tajuddin ibn Yahya ibn Hamzah over Zimermer. A battle took place between Syedna Ali and Banu Tajuddin and Allah bestowed upon Syedna with 'Fateh' in this battle. After winning this battle and reconquest of Zimermar, Syedna (R. A) took over th fortresses of Raqaban and Binte-Raqaban. Then a battle broke out between Al-Mazoon Ajal Syedna Abdul Muttalib and Zaidi Imam. Allah bestowed Fateh upon Syedna Abdul Muttalib. Five hundred people were killed in Zaidi army while only a few from amongst the companions of Syedna.
After some time, Syedna Ali (R. A) sent his son Al-Shaikh Hasan to Sana'a with an army. Al-Shaikh Hasan fought with remarkable valour, till the Ashraaf of Sana'a were compelled to request Syedna for truce and Syedna accepted their iimplore. So, as a result of the endeavour of Syedna Ali nuerous fortresses were conquered and strength of Dawat was enhanced. Afterward, the Sultan of Sana'a decided to perform Hajj and invited Syedna to accompany him. Syedna being preoccupied with the affairs of Dawat sent his Mazoon Syedna Abdul Muttalib (R. A). The sultan respected him greatly and remained cordial to him. During the period of Syedna Ali, Mohammed Bin Tughlaq (1325-1351 AD) was the ruler of Delhi Sultanate. Safiuddin Al-Hilli (1267-1349) was during this period.
