8th Dai, Syedna Husain ascended the throne of Dawat after 7th Dai, Syedna Ahmed ibne Mubarak (a.q.) who remained for one year onthe throne of Dawat. He was greatly revered by the rulers of Sana'a, the Banu Ghassan or Banu Rasool. Sultans of Banu Hatim, the possessers of numerous forts like Zimamer, and Aroos at the outskirt of Sana'a, and Banu Satabi of Aden Abyan were the obedient followers of Syedna. Syedna remained some years in Sana'a and then shifted to Zimamer to settle there. In Zimarmer, he remained busy with the of guidance of Moomineen and with the spread of Ilm of Aale-Mohammed. He compiled numerous Rasaeel to transmit Fatimi lore to the posteries of Moomineen.
Al-Amir Asaduddin, the deputy of Al-Malik Al-Muzaffer Al-Rasooli on Sana'a came to Zimarmer to settle there when some differences erupted between him and the Malik. The Amir's house was near to that of Syedna and when he observed the virtues of Syedna and attraction of people to him, he was impressed greatly by him. Syedna invited him to a feast and cordial relation was established between him and Syedna.
After some period, Al-Amir Asaduddin apologized to the Malik who accepted his excuse, but, imprisoned him. Desandants of Asaduddin remained in Zimarmer. After some time, differences erupted between Banu Asaduddin and Banu Hatim over the control of Zimarmer. Syedna, strived to resolve their differences, but they did not accept his advice. Syedna left Zimarmer and came to Sana'a to live there. There he passed away in 667/1269.
During the period of Syedna Husain, there were great political turmoil and upheaval in Muslim world. Eastern part of it was subjected to the fierce attacks of Mongols.
In 656/1258, Baghdad was captured by them and last Abbasid caliph Al-Motaasim was killed along with his family member.
Baghdad was plundered, it's inhabitants were massacred and a large part of Muslim world came under the domination of Mongols.
Advancement of Mongols to Egypt was halted in Syria by Memeluks of Egypt, Consequently, Egypt remained safe, and for coming centuries, Al- Qahira remained as an unrivalled cultural capital of Muslim world, and Al- Azhar as it's most prominent educational center.
Not only this, Muslim world was subjected to the attacks of crusaders. Seventh crusade happened in 1248-54 under the leadership of King Louis IX of France. During this period, Arabs lost Cordoba (Spain) to Castilel (1236).
Balban (1266-1287) was the sultan of Delhi.
Ibne Arabi, a prominent Sufi, and Roger Bacon, an eminent medievel philosopher were during this period.
